If you want a happy,
well adjusted dog, be consistent with "house rules".
If Spike isn't allowed on the sofa on Friday, don't make
an exception on Monday because you don't feel like enforcing
the rules.
Dogs need consistency.
They don't understand our moods and whims, and every time
you change your mind about what he is or isn't allowed to
do, you upset and confuse him thoroughly. The one thing in
the world he wants is your attention and love, and he's not
always sure how to get it. Take the time to decide what you
expect from your dog and stick to it!
Use positive reinforcement when
training your dog. Especially avoid yelling at and
scolding your dog for something he did hours earlier.
He will have no idea what you are mad about, no matter how
many times you stick his nose in it!
When your dog chews up something in
your house, hit yourself over the head several times
with a newspaper and say, "Bad human! Bad human!",
for leaving your untrained or adolescent dog unattended
in your house in the first place! Then consider giving The
Arizona Dog House Company a call and let us
build the perfect dog house for your pup to play in without
worry!
Best doggie treats:
- compressed rawhide
- boiled bone (not chicken - too
splintery)
- freeze-dried beef liver YUM!
